Gothic Splendor

I have a love/hate relationship with Halloween.  I love the fun aspects and of course the candy but I hate the slutty costumes that have become the norm.  It's also too bad that you rarely see elegant and chic Halloween decorations.  This spread of D.L. & Co. appeared in an old House & Garden magazine and is still one of my favorite Halloween features.  I posted it in 2007 and it still looks good today.  Bergdorf Goodman even used it as inspiration for windows that complemented the magazine photos. When I have a house someday, I'm definitely using them as my inspiration.  Happy Halloween!

Light My Fire

It snowed all day in New York Saturday and I wished the entire time that my apartment had a working fireplace.  Would have been very cozy and romantic to spend the day reading in front of a roaring fire.  Since I don't have one, these photos will have to suffice.  Hope you stayed dry and warm where ever you were today!

Thanks Telegraph!

Most of the time, my Google Alerts don't actually alert but today I am very happy that they did work.  Otherwise, I would not have known that The Telegraph named Habitually Chic one of The 20 Best Interiors BlogsI'm extremely honored to be included with Apartment Therapy, Lonny, and The Selby among others. I also absolutely love their description of my blog...
"'Glamorous Lives & Stylish Places’ is the tagline to this utterly compelling blog from a New York interior designer, a woman of unashamedly uptown taste, both modern, slightly Mad Men uptown and the more traditional. She’ll post photos of everything from the late Jackie O’s swag-tastic Fifth Avenue apartment to her own well-stocked dressing-room. Yes, it’s that fabulous."
I'm going to refer to myself as "unashamedly uptown" from this moment forth! Thanks Telegraph!

Since The Telegraph is based in the UK, I figured why not post my all time favorite photo from British interior designer Veere Grenney.

A Fashionable Life: Delphine Krakoff

I was running between uptown and downtown today so I'm behind on editing my photos from High Point.  Until those are ready, I leave you with this chic townhouse.  It's owned by Delphine and Reed Krakoff and was just featured in Harper's Bazaar. To read the entire story, click here.  You may remember it from Vogue but I think it looks a little more alive in these photos by Douglas Friedman.

The mirrored screen is by Serge Roche but I just saw one very similar by Bungalow 5 while in High Point.

My Fiddle Leaf Fig tree isn't looking as healthy as this one.

Delphine Krakoff's interior design firm is Pamplemousse Design Inc.

The pillows are Pucci.

Needless to say, I'm jealous of their library.

The table is Serge Roche and the painting is Frank Stella's Concentric Squares from 1974.

Chic in High Point: Oly Studio

Keeping with our neutral theme of yesterday is the Oly Studio showroom in High Point.  They debuted a lot of great new products this market Thibault Lounge above with claw feet and magnetic bolsters that always stay put.

The wall decoration added to the beauty of the showroom.

The new Astro Shelves are a great take on the famous Stella Shelves.  They now come with an option for white resin or brushed stainless black shelves. It also comes in bedside table and side table sizes.  I'm especially excited about this since I'm in the market for new side tables.  Happy Shopping!
