Oscars 2012 Best Dressed

It was a bit of a boring show but the Oscars didn't disappoint in the fashion department.  I knew Meryl Streep was taking home the Oscar statuette when she showed up in a glittering gold Lanvin dress above.  It was a perfect match but there were a few other lovely ladies who get my vote for best dressed.

Octavia Spencer won Best Supporting Actress for her role in The Help and looked absolutely gorgeous in Tadashi Shoji.  The beading and draping could not be more perfect.

Absolute best dressed goes to Gwyneth Paltrow in Tom Ford.  It was cold in Los Angeles and the cape/coat was the perfect touch.  She removed it for the ceremony and after parties and still looked like perfection.

Not everyone liked this Valentino dress on Shailene Woodley from The Descendants but how many strapless dresses can you see without being bored.  I thought the sleeves were lovely.

I'm not a fan of Milla Jovovich but I loved her white sparkly Elie Saab gown.

I thought Rooney Mara looked like a bored teenager on the red carpet.  Would it kill her to smile once on a while?  The Givenchy dress is "high fashion" and interesting but I wish they could do something with her hair.

Her sister Kate Mara on the other hand looked beautiful in this pale pink Jack Guisso dress.

Not everyone on twitter liked Emma Stone's red Giambattista Valli dress but I thought she looked pretty.  She's also such a fun breath of fresh air that I would like her in anything.

I'm not a fan of peplums but the red Louis Vuitton dress worked on Michelle Williams.

I couldn't cover the Oscars without a gratuitous photo of Colin Firth.  I just love that Mr. Darcy.

Christopher Plummer won for his role in Beginners and if you haven't seen it, watch it tonight.  You will laugh and cry and realize why he won. Such a class act.

I have no idea what film Gary Oldman was nominated for but thought he looked very dapper in Paul Smith.

I didn't love Bernice Bejo's braided hair but her seafoam green dress was beautiful.  She also has the handsome director of The Artist, Michel Hazanavicius, who won for Best Director last night.

The Artist won many awards including Best Actor for Jean Dujardin.

If you missed Sean "P.Diddy" Combs get out of his car and have his jacket lint rolled by a personal lint roller assistant, you missed the best moment of the night on the red carpet.  He also won an Oscar as a producer on The Undefeated.  I still think I'm a little more jealous of the lint rolling assistant than the Oscar.

I only saw Tom Hanks on TV but he just keeps looking better and better.

Chris Rock and his fabulous hair should have hosted the show.

Rose Byrne looks like she needs to eat a cheeseburger or twelve but everyone was unanimous in their love for her hair.

I didn't see Anna Faris until this morning but think she looks amazing in her black sequined Diane von Furstenberg dress.

Busy Phillips is Michelle Williams's best friend and accompanies her on every red carpet.  I liked her lace Dolce & Gabbana gown with a peep of lilac shoes.

Tina Fey also looked lovely in her navy blue Carolina Herrera gown.

I'm not sure what Leslie Mann does for a workout but I am going to find out and then do it.  She always looks amazing.

Not everyone loved Sandra Bullocks' Marchesa two-tone gown but I didn't mind it.  She looked pretty but maybe should lay off the Botox for a little while.

Reviews were also mixed on Jessica Chastain's Alexander McQueen gold embroidered gown but she seemed to be having so much fun with her Nana on the red carpet that I can't fault her.

Jennifer Lopez changed out of one plunging neckline gown and into another for the Vanity Fair Oscar after party. I guess that's what having a young boyfriend does.

I love the yellow color that Rashida Jones wore to Vanity Fair.  Gorgeous!

Cameron Diaz changed into this Victoria Beckham dress for Vanity Fair and it seemed to compliment her beachy surfer girl hair a little better than her first dress.

Salma Hayek also looked lovely in red.

Emma Stone changed into black peek-a-boo Chanel for Vanity Fair.

Only Sofia Coppola could get away with a jumpsuit.

I loved Felicity Jones black leather looking gown too.

Not sure for what film Bradley Cooper has grown a mustache but I'm not gonna lie.  It's a little bit sexy.

How could I not end on a cute note with Uggie, the dog from The Artist with Jean Dujardin.

Fini.
