Those of you in the worlds of beauty and fashion probably heard the news already. The world lost a tireless crusader for women's health and breast cancer awareness in the passing of Evelyn Lauder. She was born in Vienna but fled to New York when the Nazi's annexed Austria. She married Leonard Lauder in 1956 after meeting him on a blind date and eventually went to work for his mother's company, Estee Lauder. She created the iconic Clinique brand and helped make the pink ribbon the symbol for breast cancer awareness. Harper's Bazaar just published a lovely feature on her a few months ago from where these photos of her in her Palm Beach house were taken. She was clearly a wonderful woman who will be greatly missed.
